extended warranty

I am expecting to pick up my cab. 7/31 or 8/1 and I am undecided about the extended warranty. Does anyone have an opinion or thoughts one way or the other. Anything would be appreciated.

Do you know anything about cars and are you willing to tear apart your car if something goes wrong?

If you answer Yes -
DON'T get it
If you answer No - then get it.

I opted for no my first time around. One other reason is modifying. My #1 Smart I'm doing some things to it that'll void the warranty anyway. My #2 Smart I'll be leaving basically stock with the exception of some mods that won't affect the warranty.

I read somewhere that the extended warranties all have a $100 deductible per occurrence. Not sure if that is true? Would also like to see some comments in x-tended warranties.

I've been looking too, seems you can get anything from $0 to $500 deductable. Search threads for Warranty Direct for more discussions. Seems the rate is 1/2 in California than in eastern states, not sure why ($750 vs $1500)
