When we are approached by folks whilst out running errands and such, that's usually the second thing out of people's mouths. First is "That's a cute little car!", which is invariably followed by "Is it full electric?".
Still, cute and high mileage can only carry you so far.
I was actually asked by a guy the other several questions, in this order:
1. How'd you get that in the US? (smart center in Nashville).
2. It get's about 80mpg, right? (no, about 40mpg)
3. It's full electric, right? (um..... no, it's getting 40mpg, remember?)
4. I tore one of those apart about 2 years ago, our dealership got one in for a demo.
Of course, I was nice, and it was obvious he really liked it, but inside I was dieing!
maybe he has the same problem I do? I am apparently too stupid to use the holder and after 10-15 seconds of trying, I give up (sometimes I get lucky and it actually catches though). Want to share the secret of the stupid mechanism?
Same thing here. I read the manual (we read manuals on everything around here before using a given item) and saw how it was supposed to hold the cap.
But, the first time I filled the car up at the gas station, I fiddled with the "holder" for about three minutes before I got tired of looking like a complete moron. Then, I just let it hang.

You could come to New Jersey and not have to worry about it since we do not have self serve gas stations.

I had issues with it too. I don't see a way for it to solidly sit in the door at all, but I could be doing it wrong. Letting it hang seems to keep it out of the way, coz when I put it on the fuel-door it came right off. I'll have to try it again in the comfort of my own garage, coz I get too many looks in the smart to be fiddling around with a gascap haha.
