Factory alarm LED?

Is there a LED indicator for the factory installed alarm system? I was wondering what the black plastic dot is for, located on the bottom of the A/C controls (directly above the radio). Ours doesn't have the factory alarm.

Thanks!

I have the alarm system in my cabrio. There's a switch in the button bar, just to the right of the Unlock switch, for the alarm system's motion sensor circuit - you can disable the "anti-tow" feature for times when you want to prevent a motion-induced false alarm, like when you're onboard a car ferry or have someone in the car, for example. The switch has an LED in it that blinks when the full alarm system is armed, and stays steadily lit when the system is armed with the motion-sensing circuit deactivated.

Not sure off the top of my head what the black plastic dot you refer to is; I'll look in my cabrio in a few when I head off to work and report back (if I have one).

Are you referring to the spy camera lens located at 6 o'clock on the vent selector? (If so, some non-conspiracy theorists say it's a sensor for the temperature control.)

Mvaldes would be correct.

It is a temperature sensor for the climate control.

Crap! I was hoping it was the missile-launch button for the Anti-SUV-in-my-lane system.
