Well, yesterday I drove over to Smartville from Ramstien AFB. Looked at the displays of 10 years of smarts, watched a video of smart production. After the video ended, a very nice young lady named Sabine came out of her office and when I told her I was from the USA and waiting on a smart car she told me to come back in a couple of hours when her shift ended and she would take me on a private tour of the factory. The tour lasted about 2 hrs and covered the whole production line. I asked a million questions, and she was able to answer all of them. The logistics involved to get all the parts in place in the proper order to produce 650 cars a day are staggering. They produce smarts in no particular order except by customer orders. No two in line are the same. After the tour I thanked her and asked her why she took me on a tour. She said she enjoys her job and wanted to practice her english for the large groups coming later. I have had a lot of fun here in Germany but nothing as cool as walking around the smart factory with Sabine!
