False warning beep when turned off???

There have been a number of times that I turn the car off and take the key out of the ignition and it will start beeping as if I have left the lights on or something, but I haven't. If I put the key back in, turn it to the right and then back off again, it stops. Anybody else have this occur?

Mine started doing that as well this week. I saw an answer to this months ago but don't remember the solution. Hope someone else has it...

Are you taking the key out fast or waiting a second after turning it off? Maybe it's expecting a delay so it can shut down properly... yeah, I know, it's a car... how properly does it need to shut down, right? It's all computer controlled - even lights and ignition, that's why I ask.

Mine has been doing this a few times a week for some months now. It didn't do it, not once, for the first few months. I don't think it is me who has changed behavior. And, there have been instances where I am absolutely positive a good 5 or 10 seconds elapsed between engine shut down and key removal, door open and so on.
I don't yet know what will happen if I don't reinsert the key and shut the alarm off, because I've done that every time. I'm afraid the car might have a temper tantrum if I don't, LOL So, what happens if you ignore the beep and exit as usual?

After turning off the engine, I wait a few seconds before pulling the key, but I have found the problem happens less often reguardless as time goes on

I don't think it matters how quickly I take the key out. It's happened both ways. It didn't happen in the first 3 or 4 months I owned it. I've also never tried to let it keep going. I always put the key back in.

See my post #4 above. And, Amad1972 sounds like the same experiences.

Yeah. Maybe someone else who knows will chime in. Maybe someone has taken it to the dealer for this.

Any chance it's a low battery warning for the key - instead of the triple flash you're supposed to get locking it? Try swapping with your spare key and see if it changes.
