Feel like a rock star?

We've had our Smart for 3 weeks and I feel like a rock star. I've had people take my picture while driving, stop me in parking lots to interview me, offer to buy the car (!), and lots and lots of smiles, pointing and happy looks.

When I have to drive my old Volvo station wagon, I find myself surprised no one is making eye contact and smiling at me at stoplights.

Anyway -

We often get the standard questions: Is it electric? Where did you get it? Who makes it? What is your mileage? Is it safe? How much does it cost?

So far, the strangest two questions I've been asked:

1) how fast does it go?

2) Does Apple make it?

(We have a white Mac apple sticker on the back window. I had to explain twice that this car was NOT an Apple product! If it was, it would probably be called the iSmart.)

So - forum members - what's the strangest question you have been asked about your Smart?

Holly

Just the usual barrage of questions. However, my paramedics said if they respond to their fearless leader (me) at the scene of an accident, they will simply strap the whole car to a spine board and transport me to the hospital!

I was at the checkout of my local grocery store last night when the ditzy little teeny-bopper girl at the register looked out the front window and said "I wonder who is driving that little thing." As any proud papi would, with a smile on my face I opened my mouth to lay claim to the beautiful little creation. But before I could speak, she continued, "I think those things are so ugly". You little twit I thought to myself! Then, with the best composure I could muster, I responded with "Are you talking bad about my little baby? Say what you will, but I love it and am quite content with the 46 MPG!"
What followed was the stupidest question I have received considering the preceding exchange..... "Want to trade it for my Mustang?"
What a DUFUS!

Next time, tell her to stand back from the car so she's not looking directly into the side rearview mirror!

Got interesting yesterday. Was driving on an interstate when a most beautiful and sexy Lambo passed me. The driver was obviously as interested in the smart as I was in the Lambo. SO, we drove along together for about 5 miles. The reactions of the other drivers was a hoot. Passing us, dropping back, taking pictures etc.. Don't know they were most interested in, but they got an eye full.

These stories are entertaining!

We had our first offer to buy our smart recently. (no goofy offers to trade yet)

I wonder if people get tired of all the attention after a while?

The biggest crowds for the smart seem to be at Costco. Yesterday, when I finished my shopping, there were half-a-dozen unrelated people standing in a circle discussing the smart. One guy had just been online the night before to order his. One woman was going ballistic and swore she was going to order one for her and one for her new-driver son. Another asked to sit in it. The pizza I had picked up there was stone-cold by the time I finished with this group. My "NOT DUMM" (misspelled 'dumb') license plate has been a much bigger hit than I had ever expected, as well.
