I have a long wait ahead too. im 1373 and have not configured yet. I predict I will get to do that 6-7 months from when I reserved. If I reserved in October I may be able to config in May.
I then predict possibly I will get a call from the dealer 3-4 months after so lets say possibly September.
Then I predict about 30 days additonal for it finaly get to me so Im looking at waiting till atleast around October or maybe November of 08 before I can drive my SMART.

I was thinking that maybe I'll see the little bugger it in time to give it to my wife as a Christams gift. However, we just bought a new '08 Honda Civic Hybrid so I have a little time before the new car bug pops it's little ugly head up again....lol.

Cheers

Does my 1470 let me in this club?

Perhaps I should spread a little glass is half full cheer....

I think Dr Z and R Pensky are going to be successful in diverting enough 2008 451 to America to fulfill the demand minus drop outs.... I seriously think by the end of this month with Smart Cars zooming all over LA, Seattle, WDC, Dallas, Houston, and the other large markets...this monster will grow exponentially.... This will put extreme pressure on PAG and MB to jump through fire ringed hoops to capitalize on the feaver... those of us that are not 1173s are gonna be surprised by the flow

The factory only needs to change a few parts to make a USA spec 451 so there is literally no problem diverting production to a gluttonous market instead of a flat market With 37 different markets, some will be flat or low sales because of world economy problems...jest watch and see

As a fellow member in the 1470 club I am not so sure of any extra allocation with the US dollar being where it is. I would forsee a bump if PAG institutes an MSRP increase effective with future reservations. Say from 1471 and up?

Seriously, these people have been here a lot longer than you know waiting for this to happen, myself included despite my October signup date (I've been watching this board pretty much since march). We're all excited and all a little bit frustrated. I'm an 1173 and have been waiting since Summer 04 for this to happen. Maybe when you've been on this board longer you can make a comment like that. Other than that, it's kind of rude - like someone you don't know walking into your house and going right to the fridge.

Steve, et al,

Don't be too hard on the folks getting their cars now, They got in early and have been waiting a long time. They're excited and like to share their excitement - please don't take it personally; everyone with a reservation will be there eventually.

BTW, got the e-mail yesterday and will have to pick up the car in Louisville as the Columbus center won't be ready until late February.

I think you're going at him a bit too hard. I have to admit that yes, I agreed with the sentiment. It's not a slam at the people who are getting cars, but a statement that it's awfully hard to filter out a lot of useless information (I'm sorry, I only needed half-a-dozen posted emails before I got the gist of it).

Remember, just because they don't have a low number doesn't mean they haven't been waiting just as long.

Oh, definitely not being hard on the folks. I'm excited for them. I started this thread tongue in cheek, but some took me seriously. Not the case at all. I think you can tell in just the few threads I've participated in that I'm a smartass and can't be taken too seriously.

And congratulations on the email, John! I read that in the 1173 thread that you got the notice. Nothing out of our end of the state yet.

Adopting Orphans in the Free World...

There is a slight chance for some late reservationists to acquire a car which is declined for purchase at your local dealer. This is my strategy
