"Fender Bender"?

since the 'fenders' on a smart are plastic, technically shouldn't this thread be titled "Fender Flexer"?

I have an appt today with the dealer to get an estimate. I'll keep you posted on the ETA of an individual panel and how much.
Sorry to hear about you fender bender but glad that you are OK.

The front panel is the largest single piece of plastic of all the panels, thus it's price. Not knowing which route you will take (repair or replace), it may be possible to replace and paint this panel without your car, but the color match may be a question. Repairing would certainly reduce the possibility of a gross mismatch in color.

Just my thoughts.

Sorry to hear about this! Wouldn't this be a good opportunity to switch to the yellow you bought AND of course get the blue panel fixed?

hsterk, the panel damaged was actually the rear passenger side panel. Much of the cost entails the specialized paint (I guess because it goes on flexible plastic, it needs to be pliable so it won't crack) along with the labor involved. All three rear pieces, along with the valance, need to be removed.

My thoughts exactly. Only problem is the body shop is not located at the dealer. We'll see, this whole thing has me thinking it's a good time to be yellow.

Thanks babybenz, I hope you are right. I have been a bit depressed since it happened. I know it's silly, the scratch is negligable, but I have really grown quite attached to the car and I hate that it's been marred from no fault of my own.
