Finally found a dealer that didn't hose me - at least, not yet

After weeks of chasing orphan Cabrios in NJ that only really existed IF you were willing to pay an extra $3K for add-ons (LoJack, Chrome package, etc) - I just got a call from a smart car dealership in Long Island NY (Smithtown) who told me they have an orphan coming in that meets my exact requirement... AND... they didn't mark it up one red cent!! They sold it to me over the phone with a deposit for the exact cost! I wanted to say thank you to them... for me, they were the only ones that did it right. Now, if everything works out like its supposed to, that would be equally as great... I'll keep you posted.

Congrats! You'll love the car. My dealer in Lincolnwood, IL was great also with my Orphan. No add ons or additional costs.

that's my dealership here!! cool beans. they have always been great, even though my contacts have been somewhat limited so far. good for you man, I wonder how they found you? did you contact them first?

and what is the price if you have it installed yourself, outside the dealership, by a lojack technician?

Unfortunately, it's in Long Island. It might take as long to get there and back as it would to just wait for a Smart car to be built to order.

This got me thinking . Back when Saturn was getting started they had a one price shopping program. I wonder if Saturn had as much trouble with there dealers marking up the cars as smart is having with theres?

I know Saturn didn't have a waiting list, but dealers being dealers, well you know. Just thinking
