FINALLY! An updated DDE . . ."It's a mystery to me."

I reserved in Apr. 08 and initially had a DDE in mid-09. Then it started creeping closer and I configured in early Sept. Shortly thereafter the DDE kept moving closer and closer, until in Oct. it reached Nov.08 - Jan 09. And I really got excited! Then in mid-Nov. it went to the dreaded 'unable to determine' scenario, and has been stuck that way since~! Over two and a half months.

Two days ago I emailed smartUSA (again) with a question as to why it disappeared and when it might reappear. Answer was the standard "many factors, etc. etc."

Today my DDE updated to Mar. - June 09. Did the email have anything to do with it? Inquiring minds want to know . . .

"It's a mystery to me."

My guess would be no. I've e-mailed twice about my missing DDE (a month now) and still have the same old thing...

Software malfunction in the DDE? Maybe they were alerted by your email and fixed it.

I'm a software engineer in a different industry. Stuff happens, it gets fixed... and they usually don't know when it's broken until someone or something raises a flag. We don't generally put in monitoring systems to make sure everyone's data records have a date populated, but if the system as a whole is down or slow, that's when we pounce.

THIS IS ODD: I checked mine two days ago. From 1/14 to 1/29 I had the "Your vehicle delivery date cannot be estimated at this time." message ... this, after three months of being active.

Prompted by this thread, I just checked again. It has changed to ...
Quote:
Your vehicle delivery date cannot be estimated at this time because the configuration step for your vehicle was not completed. Please contact smart customer service at 1.800.smart.USA (762.7887) for assistance or click here to send an email.
Well, I was already planning to call them to request my deposit refund. But, what's odd to me is that I have not been contacted to configure.
--------------
EDIT: OMGosh! I just checked my email. I've got my notice too. Too bad, I've decided to orphan it.

Fully loaded, like my 2008 Cabrio, comes to $18,885.00 ... a couple hundred more and ya don't get the hockey puck extras. But, the reason I'm not going to take it is that it's just too early. Financially, and I want a 2010, that is, if I don't drive my '08 'til the wheels fall off.

I reserved July 12, 2008. Configuration email January 31, 2009.
