I am wondering what others have done as far as financing their new SC.

Financing through 3rd party instead of using dealer's financing will probably give you less hassle. I did mine through the bank in my office building that was giving people a better rate working in that building. I could probably got lower than 5.95% but it's pretty comparable to what I see in the DFW area. So I went with them with less hassle for me to shop around.

My credit union offered me 5.47% if I auto pay from checking. Don't figure I can beat that with a stick so I took it.

Im just going to shop around till I get a rate that I can deal with. Ill shop first, then I will let the dealership work too if thats what needs to happen.

Plan to pay cash, but if the smart arrives before the cash then I will go to the credit union.

Yea. I hope to have most of it cash by then. With all the weird reports of quick confirms, not so sure tho.

This is one area where trying to buy an orphan might leave you in a weaker position with the financing APR.

I have found when I go into a dealer with the going rate at the local credit union, they usually find a way to come very close. Most dealers around here at least deal with many different banks and credit unions and can get a pretty good rate if your credit is good. Didn't have any trouble at all when financing my orphan.
