Financing the SMART
Financing the SMART im sure this was a question that alot of us had. I was wondering if anyone knows if the financing of the SMART will be with the same banks that Mercedes shoppers will be using at the dealership or if SMART will have its own special financing bank or structure. Im assuming this will determine if it would be easier or not to get approved for those who have fair , bad , or ok credit.

smart has its own, but only a percentage of sales price. Best to shop financing before you get to the dealership with your local credit union.
For those with bad credit, shame on you, then be prepared to pay a lot more.

I talked with my dealership's business manager today. HE said he's been busy setting up loans with all the major lenders in their area and they hope to have some very competitive rates. He almost sounded disappointed when I told him I had already secured my loan through my credit union, but when I told him my rate, he admitted that it was quite a good deal. I think they are trying to have lending institutions to match with their customer needs, regardless of financial status. Nobody in an official capacity has indicated that to me, but it was certainly the impression I got.

They are car dealers after all, and I'm sure they will do what it takes to get you behind the wheel of your brand new car! (at a price)

I just think it is rude to say shame on you for people with bad credit, he has no idea why thier credit may be that way but I am sure that in many cases it was not thier fault, they may have had a tragedy in the family, lost a job, got cheated, etc.
I plan on paying cash, but not everyone in this forum is as lucky, we do not need to make offensive comments about anothers financial condition just because some of us may have money.

As someone who has had people not pay me money that is owed me, while claiming they are in trouble, then go out to buy a new car on credit? I really don't have much sympathy for them.
Credit is not a right, its a privilege that can be abused.

financing
The smart manager that I talked to said that they use MB financing services. He said the rates were market rates, no deals. I plan on paying cash for mine. I cannot decide which car to sell, or even if I should sell one. I have 04 Toyota Avalon XLS, 03 Toyota 4 runner Sr5, 00 Toyota Camry LE.
I also have my name on the title of an 01 Honda Civic coupe but my daughter really paid for it so.....that one stays.
