First Aid Kit & other issues on delivery

I finally picked up my smart today. w00t w00t!!!!

I really love driving it.

When I got home I was showing hubby how to get to the engine, etc. and found there was no first aid kit anywhere. Has anyone else been missing theirs? I'm also not sure how to get to the repair kit ** the sales associate didn't show me.

There was also some weird white gunk at the top of the window on the rubber gasket, both on the window piece and on the piece on the car itself. Has anyone else found this?

The biggest problem was getting the cargo cover off so I could lift the cargo area carpeting to get to the engine and then fitting the hook on that carpeting into the slot to keep it upright. I don't expect we'll have to do this very often, but it was extremely difficult.

All in all, I'm happy on this my first day.

Sharon, the lift gate, on the inside, has a latch. Push the latch to open the inside lid. You should see some items within a holed-out sponge compartment.

When you're done and closing the inside lid, make sure the latch pops back in.

Sorry to have to tell you this, but the first aid kit is extra and it is not cheep. If you really what a first aid kit I recommend going to Walmart and making one yourself.

Wahi: Are you talking about the drop down for the hatch? I have a cabrio, and there is nothing inside there other than the foam to hold the side bars if I decide to take them out (which I will probably never do). What items should be in there? I had an emergency kit before, and I put all the items from that kit inside that drop-down piece.

SPDYII: I only thought it came with a first aid kit because it was shown in the manual. If that's not the case, I'm okay with it. I just thought it was missing because it was shown there.

Thanks for the quick response from both of you.

I saw that in the owner's manual also but I think the first aid kit is standard in the models made for Canada and not for the USA.

It's optional, not standard

In the manual, the first aid kit is shown with a *, which means that it's an optional item. Page 21 (in the section I usually don't read ) shows the symbols used in the manual and their meaning.

I ordered the safety kit and have been waiting and waiting and waiting. The dealer says they haven't gotten any yet.

I heard today that the safety kit is going to be discontinued (before it ever even existed!) Anyone else have information (particularly those that work at dealers).

what kind of prices were you looking at for the smart kit? auto safety kits can be had for very little $ and would have more flexibility than the smart kit IMHO.

The safety kit that Smart offers for the 451 IS NOT AVAILABLE TO DEALERS IN US OR CANADA at this point.

This euro kit which is in our inventory contains one yellow bulb which we in North America dont use. THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE DELAY.

This factory kit complete with formed rear lid compartment tray is in our inventory now.

please see the ebay listing..
