Its exactly this reason why I just bought the compact black air horn from Griot's garage. I intend to install it this Sunday.
Yellow-smart I have the black airhorn, but unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to use it in anger or even to caution someone. But I did accidently set off the panic button the other morning when I was leaving for work (@ 5:30am) and it is very loud Russ

I did that. I thought I was pressing the lock button but pressed the panic button. It was loud. It took a moment to figure out what I did.
I got my moments on the road. Sometime I give a finger to some jerk who have no respect for others. Or even go around and trap the sucker between 18-wheelers and then crawl for a few miles. Am I proud of it? Hell no! But some people just should not be driving on public roads. If someone would throw something at me, they would be in trouble. No, I would not slash tires or do something like that. I would follow, get license plate and then call 911 to report the assault.
On the side note: Here is article from UK Times about Roadrage.
After ramming a Fiat Punto she'd barely avoided colliding with just moments earlier, Serena Sutton-Smith kept her foot to the floor until her tires disintegrated and her engine caught fire. Now, most people would probably stop at that point—or never get anywhere near that point to begin with—but Sutton-Smith apparently meant business. She literally told a man who tried to help her to "f**k off," and never even attempted to get out of the burning car. Talk about road rage!
Dumb question: does the Panic button work when the car is on? In other words, has anyone, while driving, tried to press their Panic button? It may not be an air horn, but it would certainly scare the bejeebers out of someone trying to squeeze you off the road!

By the time you LOOK at you key, then trying to push the button (most likely you will turn off your engine). And all this happening at 80mph with other car (you trying to scare) about to ram you off the road.
I think it will be WAY easier just to push your horn.
Typical of SUV owners. They think that just because they have that big SUV that gives them the right to act like little barney bad asses when really they lack something in their personalty such as half a brain and packed full of attitude, and if the driver is jealous over the fact they make those arabs who supply our gas get fatter bank accounts due to their spending a fourtune fueling those beasts, watch out. Sorry to hear about your little incident. A person like that needs to be taught a lesson, such as calling the local cop over that kind of stuff.

Well the traffic was bumper to bumper so he decided he was going to pick on the smallest car......he merges into me, I move out of the way, and he gets his spot. WRONG. I had another car coming to my right so I wasn't moving anywhere. We were about 12" apart when he decided to abort. He also had to basically stop because the merge lane ended.
Well he sped around me and sped through traffic. Then waited until I drove up to his side and rolled down the window and gave me the finger. I motioned to him as well but I don't think he could see through my tinted windows. Just as he was exiting another highway, He took a bottle of water he was drinking and threw it out at me. Luckily, he was an old man with no arm. The bottle of water was no where near to my car.
That goes to show you how people in big cars are sometimes nothing but cowards. They use their big cars to intimidate. I know this man would not have the b_lls to get out of the car if I would have stopped. He only threw his water bottle because he was exiting and I was going straight.
I still can't believe he was so angry as to throw something at me. What a turd
I used to get all worked up when that stuff would happen to me. Now I get next to them and smile as bid as possible and wave. It really throws them off guard. I figure they are having a bad day (or life) and I'll just get out of their way. Someday they will run into someone else who is having a worse day and they can see who wins.
I'm with you....works every time. After all, how many seconds later do you arrive at your destination if you let someone in front of you or out of a gas station, etc?
Sorry to hear about what happened, I know the feeling all too well. I believe in karma and they`ll get what is coming to them. Don`t let it get you down.
blackbeagle,
Sorry to hear about your expirience and I am glad you made it thru unscathed. At the end tho I have to chuckle when I think of the big bruiser getting upset enough to think he is safe to throw a bottle of water as he exits.
Take solace in knowing this person has a miserable life. Likely they treat every situation similar.
With my daily commute I witness numerous cut-ins like this. I have to admit, sometimes I will watch the lane next to me and if I see a suspect, I will speed up or slow down to keep them from cutting over. They need to learn to get in line like (most) everyone else. Of course, I am not in a Smart car yet, so likely that form of automotive venting will cease once I am half the size of most vehicles out there...
