This is NO joke! I live in a really nice area, not much violence. Seriously, our record high has been 2 murders in one year. Well, about 2 years ago, my husband had a guy tailing him and there was no one in the passing lane, he could have easily gotten over but instead he rode our back bumper. When he finally did pass us (after tailing us for about 10 miles) my hubby flipped him off-WRONG MOVE. They pulled over and tried flagging us over to the shoulder of the road, of course we didn't pull off, we just carried on about our business. They turned the opposite direction from us so we figured, no big deal. Just a couple minutes after we got into the store they showed up, came in the store and both guys had "SKINHEAD" tattooed across their throats, one of them showed us his .38 and said told my husband to appologize to the woman passenger. My mother was with us and both she and I were going into panic attacks so instead of screaming GUN or something along those lines he appologized and they left with no incidents. I will NEVER flip another person off. If I get flipped off, I smile and wave, it irritates them more!

Are you? Did you read the whole story?

That woman was unbalanced. What a lesson. You never know how screwed up other drivers may be and you can't count on rational behavior.

So you might as well be careful, drive defensively and give a wide berth to aggressive drivers.

If you're the parent of teen drivers, how would you advise her/him to handle a road rage situation?

...and you would have done exactly what if he would have stopped and gotten out? Beat up an old man? I can guarantee the county attorney would have a field day with you for that one. He threw his water bottle at you?

Chill out. You're driving a tiny little, underpowered novelty car and you're going to try to do battle with a Suburban? Simple physics: gross weight always trumps.

If you're going to drive aggressively, buy an Audi. Nearly every Audi driver I see on the road has a chip on their shoulder. In actuality they simply have BMW envy.

I'm not looking for any confrontation on the road, but when a jackass puts me or my passenger in danger, I'm going to let him know about it. If he's going to throw something out of a car, then we have a problem. What am I going to do if he gets out of the car? Well, I'm an adult. I'm going to tell him what I think of his actions. Just because I get out of my car doesn't mean I'm looking for trouble. If it comes to that, it will certainly not be on my end, but it's call "Defending yourself". But throwing things out of ones car is inexcusable. I don't care if it's a bottle, a piece of gum, or a dime.

Remember, there was no battle here. He tried to basically squash my car by merging into my lane because the jackass refuses to get in line and then had the nerve to give me the finger because I can't move over. There is only ONE person at fault here. The hell with him.

BTW, I'm not sure if you are accusing me of driving aggressively. If you did, then it's obvious you didn't read my post very clearly. I traded a 2005 Maxima for this car. Do you think if I had gasoline in my blood I would do such a thing?

Most interesting vehicle.
I am still fuming about the idiot that was behind me today. When the light turned green I accelerated at a decent clip being in the far right lane of a 3 lane highway, still beating out the other two vehicles on my left. Sometimes the smart actually moves faster in D than I expect. An SUV behind me decided to ride my bumper and that got to me. My reasoning is no... you can never ride someone's bumper when they are in the far right lane. So I finally decided to use the kickdown and put some distance between us. I was now going about 70 on a 50 mile road and had left all other cars behind. All I needed was a LEO now, so I slowed to 55mph...again the SUV was on my tail again. Since I had to get off the next exit I could not do anything except to let it happen. I slowed down to about 10 mph on the exit lane and flipped him off. Hoping that he would get the message. That did not help either. It was like he was connected to me with an invisible rope. Our exit was a two laner and I was on the right going about the posted 30 mph limit. He passed me on the left and gave me a stupid look and just continued on.
I was fuming inside. I was hoping he would open his window or so I could say something profound on what an idiot he is. I was ready to challenge him to fight if need be.
So in all my years of driving I almost really lost it because of this. I know I'm supposed to grin and bear it, but it wasn't what I wanted to do. So... I have vented and am glad it didn't come to blows and I feel a bit better now.
