Funny story - at the gas station.

I drove to the local gas station this morning to pick up some gas for the mower. I pulled up to the pumps and had just got the container on the ground when the older guy next to me starts talking and laughing. I asked him what he said. . .
"That would make a great advertisement," he says. "A big guy like you getting out of that little gas-saver!"
Well, I'm 6 ft and 290 lbs and it gave me quite a chuckle - especially since he was filling up a late '90's GM boat that probably gets 12mpg. Then he says "What kind of mileage do you get?"
My reply - "I don't know - it's only three weeks old and I'm still on my first tank and haven't filled up yet. Maybe next week."
You should have seen his jaw drop!
Hilarious!

Haha, that's hilarious. I had a 2007 Toyota Yaris for a while and I got similar reactions by that. I can't wait to see what people will be saying when I get the Smart!

I am six feet tall and weigh 315 lbs. One guy had followed me into the parting lot where I work and was surprised to see how big I was. I have photos my myself near the bottom of my web page.

At work I 'complain' about how much I pay for gas and how it 'only last 2 to 3 weeks'. They usually give dirty looks. One co-worker tells me she pays 100 dollars a week for gas.

I told one guy who asked about mpg that I picked up the car at the end of May and still have not fill up again. His jaw dropped too. True story...middle of Aug. and I still have a little less than one quarter tank.

I pay over $60 a week for gas FOR MY SMART!!

What's even funnier is I used to live 6 miles from work and had a Honda Insight, I averaged 65mpg. I NEVER filled that thing up - maybe once a month, what's even worse was when I went on business trips for 3 months at a time and parked it.

Dude, I pay about 30 bucks a month... I've only once gone over $30 in a fillup and I was on reserve. Now that school's starting Monday, I'll probably double the mileage... I shudder to think what Nibbler's gonna be like in school stop and go traffic though. The smart likes to go 50mph, not 5. Exactly 5mph crawling is jerky as all get out.

Those of us that don't spend 60-100 bucks a week aren't necessarily in it for the savings, which is interesting... we like the car for the car, not just the numbers. And yet the first question we all usually have to answer is about MPG. I've only had one person say it looks fun to drive.
