I think it's a Ford thing, our company car is an '04 Freestar, no gas cap hanger on that either. Typical US automaker mentality, they'll waste $50,000 in engineering to put another useless button for another useless feature on the center consol, but forget the gas cap hanger so you don't scratch the paint.

Not trying to get off topic, but I've bought Mopar all my life, this is the first foreign car I've ever bought, and now I know why the US auto industry is in the tank! This is the best, highest quality vehicle I've ever owned. I love my smart!

Yep, New Jersey is another "no self-serve" pump state.

I'm with you. I don't get it. Tried and tried. Does anyone have a pic of theirs sitting in the holder thing? Please, I want to see.

boy that suckers. Bet the price of gas is higher too to pay for it. OMG, at least in the old days, you could choose FULL or SELF. Hopefully, they don't TOP IT OFF for ya.

I love Oregon but the no self service thing is f'ing ridiculous. It takes way too long to get gas and call me old fashioned, but having an ~18 y/o girl fill a gas can for me was just beyond bizarre.

I think I would hate for the guy to fill my tank if he/she does not know they are supposed to not TOP IT OFF. Just a thought.
Yes it's against the law to pump your own gas. You can pump your own diesel.
As for the price gas does cost more on the west coast than the east coast. Gas is cheaper in Oregon than Washington. In Washington you do pump your own.

Why can't you top off?

Actually I have found NJ to be a lot cheaper than NY, even with the full serve law... sometimes almost a dollar less per gallon. It has to do with being a refinery state, from what I am told.
