I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL and have been looking into the same. I know they pay for advertising on smarts in europe, just saw one from disney. I have a green company interested but not sure how much to charge per month? Anyone with an advertising background have any suggestions?
What price to suggest? Watch the movie staring Spencer Tracy as "Edison". As he got ready to make a suggestion, his wife suggested for him to ask how much the advertisor would pay. He did and he aggreed to settle at $40K. They laughed because they would have gone to $60K. He laughed back and said that he would have settled for $2K. So much for the movie. Me, I am checking with the local Boy Scouts of America for their thoughts. Another may be the USMC. I believe in both.
You may think I'm making this up, but I'm enjoying Sam Adams myself tonight. But, I rarely do any soda. Hmmm, this is the 8th month of the year, I think I've purchased two sodas so far. Pepsi, huh? I'm a Liberal too! Oh sorry, supposedly Liberals prefer Pepsi, while Conservatives favor Coke. But, this is not a political forum.
I honestly believe you'd have a tough sell getting any such national company as a client.
Good luck!
I think the split is more along wine and beer drinkers. But perhaps they have found common ground in microbrews.
It works! I have a local adds on my smarty, in the back window I have an L,E,D scrolling sign. I can program mulitpal messages Like" EAT AT JIMMYS" Lakeport, CA
or I got my pant job done at Big Valley Truck and Auto.. I can bargain for new clients daily!! My car get so much Attn. it's a smart and I have a wild paint job!! I also put a wind up key on the back....The people smile at me, so I smile back! it's a great feeling!
You have to be bold and market your car, put a marketing plan together and watch your car make you money!!
... I know they pay for advertising on smarts in europe, just saw one from disney.
Don´t believe that nowadays. In the time the Smart was born, advertising agencies grew up like mushrooms. Most of them had a lot of interested drivers, but very few clients ready to pay. Nowadays Smart cars are a commonly sight in Europe and not a headturner anymore. So I guess, that the car You saw also was owned by Disney.
Virtually since "day one" with my 2005 smart car, I have had graphics from local companies on the car to help pay my costs. A flower shop, a B&B, plus a political party (for free); right now, a computer repair tech firm.
Not getting paid very much, but enough to cover my fuel every month. Local firms are great. I travel around daily on my own business in their primary trading area.
Only one business at a time, for contract periods minimum 6 months. They pay for the artwork and vinyls. I keep the car clean and avoid moving violations. Never had a bad-behaviour-in-traffic report. Yet ;)
Presently, I'm preparing a proposal for an FM radio station for the next period.
I'm in publishng and one of the measures is "impressions." How often might someone see the ad? If I'm paying, I'd want to know that the car is going to get a lot of viewing opportunities. If you're driving 10 miles a day round trip to work, not as valuable as the person who said they're driving around on their own business in the community constantly. Parking on the street, in open lots, etc. lots of opportunity.
Talk to the local shops that do the vehicle wraps and tell them you have this attention-getting car you'd be willing to wrap for a client if they have one that's interested. You both win in that deal - they get to up-sell a customer into wrapping another car and you get a "client."
I added my store name across the back window. I get lots of comments while I'm out running about and a few at the store. They had to come see what kind of store would avertise on a little car. After looking around they say it fits. a unique shop and a unique car.
