Good Car?

I just turned 16 the October 22. Dad said I could save my money and he would pay half of my car that I want. I have been looking at the Smart ForTwo Pure for quite a while now and I've read all about the safety, the reviews from people who have smarts, and heard dealers from many videos talk about the features. I want to know if the Smart ForTwo Pure would be a good FIRST car for me? I really like it and it looks safe. Need opinions. Thanks

If, at 16, you can get your dad to pay for 1/2 of a smart, you are a certified genius. Go for it.

I say no. I am 19 and even so I am not ready for a smart. Think about it, often you will be going out with friends, the gf, etc and you will need some sort of back seat. I am not saying you need to get a full-fledged 4-door family sadan, it could still be a coupe but with a back seat fit for occasional 3 or 4 people and their stuff (for short distances). Also, your local HS parking lot is not the best place to leave a car like the smart for hours on end. Of course, if your dad is willing to loan you his sedan/suv for when you need more space, then get smart.

Caution, if you order today you will probably get it in time for graduation

Well the one I want, the Pure, is only $11,590. By April I supose they would have some used smarts. Either way I want to know if it will be a good car for me. Hopefully I can get a used one that has power windows unlike the new pure that is all manual windows and locks. Thats horrible for smart to do that. Who wants manual locks and windows?

We have a 4 door, Dodge Ram 1500 and a Cutlas Supreme. My brother just got out of college with a Nissan Sentra SE manual 6-speed. I want to have a car that is affordable for me. I play football and baseball all year so I'm always busy. How much is the average insurance on one of these things anyway?

My brother just got out of a mechanic college that works on diesal motors. He had to go through an electrical class too. Do you think possibly I could install a power window set? Anything besides stupid manual windows. If I wanted that I would go buy the 1971 Chevy Chevelle I wanted in the first place.

For the price of upgrades on your Smart Pure, you mideswell get a passion. Remember you will be spending a good chunk of your life in the car you drive, make it a nice place to be.

I started driving a 1962 VW Cabrio (convertible) when I was your age and a smart fortwo pure is the perfect car.

No, you cannot borrow my Vette for the prom
