Just because you will eventually hit a tree on your first car, save the smart for your 2nd...or maybe 3rd (college graduation gift to yourself?)...

Every time one adds another teenager in a car the IQ level drops considerably in the vehicle. Not my words...just what I read.

I think I will be able to pay attention to the road with friends but not sure yet. I'm sure I can stay away from trees as far as going to school and work (which I wont have a job till after football).
My Dad was wondering how the insurance was on this car? The pure, and the passion? Like a regular car or much more being a new model in the US?

Sorry for all these questions I'm asking. I just want to have the right car and be able to afford it with football in the warm and the begining of the cold seasons and baseball in the spring and summer.
Thanks for the feedback again.

Insurance on my Smart was only a few bucks more than on my SUV or on the Grand Am. They take into account purchase price, safety, age of the driver, and a million other factors, but you're looking at average pricing for a good, safe, sedan. I pay about $80/mo for full coverage and 300k liability (legal minimum won't cut it anymore). But, I've got 17 years of driving history and only three speeding tickets during those years. As a brand new driver in L.A., I was spending $350/mo back in 1992. The insurance companies consider new drivers very high risk and will charge a lot more; get as many family discounts as you can.

Get at least 4 quotes from different companies... Geico says they'll save you money, but their online system quoted me $300/mo when State Farm and Farmers were $80/mo. That gecko's sneaky. Or the computer hated me. Probably the latter... I program them, so they hate me. It keeps everything in balance.

roll up windows even when power off

I specificly did NOT want the electric windows. One more thing to go wrong. Besides it is not that far to reach the other door and roll the window down.
The downside with power windows is that one has to start/turn on the electric just to roll up the window(s). I was driving some one in my Dads Ford Focus and she had the window down. I had to turn the ignition in 'on' to roll her window back up.

I was used to having manual windows. My previous vehicle - a 1996 Nissan pickup - did not have power windows but it was a hassle to roll up or down the passenger side window. In the Fortwo, it is really easy to roll up or down the window since it is quite easy to reach over to do so. (total agreement with your last statement).

I really like my Smart Fortwo Pure.

Exactly the reason why I like 2 seaters!

FYI: IL. State law states that until I've had my license until I'm 17-18, I'm restricted to no more than 1 passenger under age 19 (excluding family).

-so that makes the Smart perfect for me!
