Got The Call

Only fourteen months and six days after placing my $99 deposit, I heard from Riverside, CA Smart Center that my White/Silver Passion Coupe is in. I can pick it up anytime after the 19th. Guess it's time to get the golf cart garage cleaned out, so it has a home. Guess I need to dust off the Lorinsers and Yokihamas I got from another forum member. Oh yeah, the DT exhaust too (thanks Chris). I probably should wait a while to make any changes, but am not very good at that.

Looks like I'll have one of the last 2008s. With any luck, the sun shade will be new & improved.

Just for kicks I pulled up my DDE. It now says 9/18/2008 to 12/17/2008. Yesterday, it was 9/24/2008 to 12/23/2008????

Makes No sense if it is in Why do you have to wait til 19th? If it was me I'd tell them I want it now not so others can view and sit in it at dealer.

I had to wait for mine too. My dealer said it was "prep time". Told them since I was 4 hours away one way they were working off my schedule. Didn't work. Finally once I finally got to the dealer and pretty well cussed out the rep I found out their finance guy only did Smart sales 2 days a week. I considered that a more straight answer, still not a good answer, but truthful.

After waiting this long, I guess a few more days wont hurt. I'm not worried about others sitting in it, etc. They don't place new "to be delivered" cars on the showroom floor (or lot), so that they can be abused. It does seem that four days for new car prep., is a bit excessive tho. In reality, it came in sooner than the October 26th date I was given recently, so I should be happy.............

All the "to be delivered" vehicles I've seen at the dealer were all locked

I mean, MBs are flying off the lot too right! Especially now, with this great economy and money falling from personal jets as the corporations atone for their sins and throw money out of the windows. He was just too busy!

There was someone in the San Antanio forum that said that their new cars are the displays until you come in. All the sweaty people with perfume and food...

Lets just say when I get the 90 day email and the phone call, they will KNOW it if it happens to me, Dave is getting a phone call right there.

When mine arrived back in January it was locked and parked in the parking garage with about 3 other smarts surrounded by a bunch of MBs and a couple McLaren SLR within 20 feet from my baby.
