A month ago I was involved in an accident where I was sideswiped by a foreign driver who was'nt used to driving with the steering wheel on the right, and my little smart roadster sustained damage down one side, the door and rear quarter panel was scraped and the trid was dinted under the door on the sill, it was taken to the insurance approved repair center and I was worried as it was not a smart center, but I need'nt have worried as they have done a great job, the door and quarter panel just needed spraying but the sill needed pulling and filling a little and then spraying.
The car actually stood up to the impact quite well and was easy to fix according to the bodyshop guy as he had'nt worked on a smart before and really liked the little car.
For anyone interested here are a couple of piccies of the damage.
wouldn't it have been easier to replace the panels than paint it and take a chance on the paint not matching or fading down the road?? I thought that was the great part of repairing small accidents, changable body panels?
glad to see your happy again, looks like your back in a smart before me then , hasnt driven the roadie for over 3 weeks now and the crossblade yet this year, will be hoping for some sun when i get home !!!!

New panels have to be spray painted anyway, they are not plastic impregnated with color, they are white plastic that are sprayed just like every other car, try drilling through a panel if you don't believe me, the panel is white plastic all the way through.

Haha, I'd stay Putz if I was you, we are under the worst snowfall for 20 years over here, and next week is supposed to be just as bad, so I won't be driving the roady either, it came back this morning and went straight into the garage where it will stay until all the snow goes, all these folk that say their smarts are great in the snow must have a screw loose, they are useless, this week I will be mostly driving my 4x4.
El
my roadster is parked on the drive but it is under a cover , the crossblade is in the garage and then i have also parked the fortwo/city car on the drive aswell and locked the teardrop caravan to the hitch of the city car , bet it looks a right site lol!!!!!

Three smarts, different models? Now, that's what I call a fan. You had your choice of any vehicle, and chose three smarts - are you something of a collector, or did you like anything in particular about the smart company itself?
...hey headless...glad to see you got your ride back...
...was that an insurance claims?...out of pocket?...just to compare how stuff works on the other side of the pond...
Thanks, they are the standard 15" spinlines that you get with the smart roadster, they are silver as standard, but after 4 years the fronts were looking tatty and they were starting to bubble up from behind, so I wanted to get them powdercoated and thought I would have them in black instead of silver.
Here are a couple of piccies, 1 with the silver wheels, 1 with the black wheels
If you are sharp eyed, you will see the reg plates are different, it is the same car, my wife bought me the second plate as it sort of says WHOAAHH, as we ride western horses
