Handicapped drivers?

Hi -

Anyone out there with experience with left-foot accelerators in a Smart Car?

Any problems or issues?

Thanks!

Pete

The accelerator pedal is electronic; there are no cables attaching it to the engine.

One could move it, I think, without too much difficulty. If I recall correctly there's just a couple of bolts holding it to the floor.

I'm assuming you've had similar modifications on other vehicles?

The footwell gets very tight to the left of the brake. Not impossible but tight.

I think a hand control could be possible, but the user must get used ti it first because from what I heard, it's kinda weird to have an accelerator control by hand

I have some use of my right leg, but wear a long leg brace. If it weren't raining today I'd be putting in the cruise control. I've gotten used to driving using cruise as the accelerator. - sheureka
