Harsh post from "SP Klien" at SmartUSA Site

Received this message blast from the SMART USA site...

Quote:
A message from SP Klein to all members of Still waiting on smart USA insider!

It sure is a good thing that Roger does NOT run his racing operation like the way the SmartCar operation seems to be run, according to the missives I have read to date! If he had the same personnel operating his racing empire that seem to be running the SmartCar operation, he'd be coming in last every race!
What topics are you guys seeing discussed at the Smart USA site?

I hadn't seen that. I didn't join the still waiting group even though I am still waiting for the one I configured but I did get an orphan.

I got spammed with that tripe in my inbox.

I need to take more of a look around there for the settings - I do not want my inbox added to every time someone makes a post to one of the forums... I have a hard time wading through the crap and forwards as is.

Not much there~

At this point I'm not very excited about the "insiders" forum. The concept they've used is the social network model. While it's a big hit for the teen generation, some of us um.... more mature folks don't really need to add 'friends' or feel the need to associate with obscure 'groups' that we may or may not really belong to.

I got an 'invite' from some woman I didn't know. Needless to say I declined the invite. Hope she wasn't offended.

I like SOCA ...

I disabled those notifications in my settings and STILL get them!

If you go to your page on the insider site you can turn off all e-mail notifications. Otherwise you get inundated with them.

As to the site itself it appears to me to be dominated by people who have reserved just in the past few months and they haven't at this point recieved any info from Smart and in many cases they are asking questions about the car and the purchase process that have been discussed here months ago.

Lot's of frustrations being expressed and also lot's of ignorance. Had these people been on SCOA at all they would already be well informed but apparently they have never sought information until they were invited to join through the master e-mail list of smart USA.

This "second generation" of smart wait-listers is like being back in school; only now, we've graduated. Once you get the car, it's a different deal.
It's the same thing all over again. Like the opening and closing scenes from the movie "On the town."
Can't blame them for having questions, but they do get annoying sometimes. I wonder if it's like this for parents. Good thing I never had kids ;-)

I initially signed up for "SmartInsider" and was quickly dissapointed. I removed myself from the site. SCOA is light years ahead. I'm a big VW fan and compare this site to TheSamba.com. That's why I reserved a Smart. Reminds of a Classic VW. Just cool and fun to drive.

I agree. I ran into a new reservee yesterday and mentioned SCOA. He said he'd been invited to join and I set him straight immediately. There is nothing wrong with a social forum but when I was waiting for my smart I needed this site to keep me sane. It answered all my questions and was a huge comfort in an angonizing time period.
Anyway, I pass this site on to anyone that seems interested in getting good info on the smart.
