hauling a 1 person kayak on roof rack

Is it possible (ok- safe, legal...) to haul a kayak on the top of a smart? I used to have a truck and I miss being able to haul my kayak....
I'm also tired of asking if I can use my boyfriend's truck

Owners manual tells you not to put anything on the roof if that helps. Most likely a safety issue...of course that doesn't mean people haven't hauled stuff up there - I do lots of crazy things with my Smart but putting things on a Passion roof won't be one of them. Maybe someone else can give you more of an answer you want to hear with a good attaching idea.

I did a Yahoo search for Yakima.
Their configurator lists the SMART fortwo, so I guess the answer is yes - for around $300.
You can also do a search for Thule and see what they have.
