Have a Question about the Cabrio

Hey Gang,
I have a few questions about the Smart Cabrio.
Has anyone had any problems with leakage from the cloth top, when it rains real hard...how do they handel under high winds?
I just ordered my Cabrio..and just wondered if there were any problems, and should I change my order to a coupe? Any help will be GREATLY welcome!!
Thanks
~Sue

I adore my cabrio

I've had it since April 19 and we've had a few pretty heavy thunderstorms since then. The most water I've gotten inside has been a few drops at the edge of the seats one time when the car sat out in a heavy rain.
After that I thought it might be a problem, but it hasn't been. I couldn't be happier with a car and I'm very glad I got the cabrio. I don't think I'd be as happy with the coupe. I love that I can open it just a little, like a sunroof, or a lot. I have it at least part way down most of the time. I'm really going to hate it when winter comes.

I've had it through the car wash several times with no leaks and I recently took a trip with 20-30 mph head & side winds with no trouble and I doing going 70-80 mph. I do like the idea of being able to open the top just partially or all the way even at freeway speeds, but I don't like the b-pillers or the partial door-windows being in the way. Also when the top is down I wish it didn't sit up so high on the tail gate as it blocks most of the rear view. That's just my opinion though. It's not the perfect design, but I still love the car.

I have the Cabrio also, but I find that I rarely open the roof. Today's high temp in Palm Springs, CA was 109 degrees HOT. My bald head wouldn't last ten minutes. Come winter I'll be more inclined to use it. It doesn't rattle or let in wind noise on the freeway. I've never had it wet, so I don't know about that.

The Passion's Lexan roof is totally awesome, even without being a convertible. It has a nice close-able shade to keeps out the heat. Open it lets in mucho light, and the $3,000 savings would buy lots of toys, including power steering.

Greetings Sue, I have only had my Cabrio for about a month. However, I have driven in heavy rain and winds without a problem. I would recommend the Cabrio over the Coupe any day. It is just MORE FUN! With your great weather in Virginia, it is a no brainer.Go for it...CabrioGUY

Definitely get the Cabrio! We have had ours a little over a month and love it. True, when fully open the rear view is partially blocked, but it's a great trade-off. Besides, we drove the coupe at our dealer on a 40 degree day in Chicago and we were BAKING through the glass roof even with the shade pulled. We have had a very rainy spring with heavy rains and have had ZERO leaks. I have not been brave enough to take it through the car wash yet though.

Cabrio Lover am I! This is the best car I have ever purchased and my first convertible! I can't believe I never had one before. Anyway, no problems but be careful when hitting the button to engage. I hit it too hard and pushed it into the casing. But no fear, Edison fixed it in a jiffy.

Cancer SUCKS!

Sue, Way to GO!
I'm sure sorry you have breast cancer & I hope and pray you FIGHT it and have it go to 100% remission! Hang in there.

On the cabrio, I've had mine for about a month and a half and simply love it! The only, only thing I wish I could change is the top when folded down. It's really hard to see out the center rear-view mirror. It really needs a rear-view video camera (especially when backing up).
Other than that, I haven't had any leaking problems or unusual wind problems at all.
Hope you get your new smart soon.
Keep on fighting and my prayers are with you.

Sue, patience is difficult when waiting for the smart. Everyone on this forum can attest to that! But it's well worth the wait! I've had my cabrio since February and I love it more each day. No problems with water leakage. And I agree with the other cabrio owneres in this thread, the option of opening a little or a lot is HUGE!
Hope you beat the cancer, Sue and I hope you have as much fun with your smart as I have had.
