XXX plus feet of too Small a Gage wire form Alt to battery and even smaller gage wire to and from control SAM to relays and headlights is bound to have some dimming impact by design....

Mostly, I would suspect (because of all the rest of the car seems to have crappy QC) is a series of loose grounds including the battery

In fact I would be willing to bet some geen on this as the cause in most cases

Headlights put out VERY flat beam pattern. Car rocks on shift...... headlights seem to dim, when actually they are alternately point up, then down, etc etc. I noticed this right away, dismissed it as what it was, a design quirk. If it's an electrical problem, I haven't noticed that part of it. For what it's worth.......

now try with the high beams on, This is no great problem for me just something that made me think about what was happening. This car has made me both more patient and more curious at the same time. Not worried in the least yet could run wires to the headlight from the meter in the cabin if I was really worried about it but I am not. If I get bored all bets are off
karl
my car is not rocking when it shifts anymore
