Help. I can't merge!!!

Has this happened to you? You're trying to merge either on or off the highway or even just trying to make a lane change and you can't. There is a car there. You speed up slightly to go around and they speed up. You slow back down to pull in behind them and they slow down. You're running out of time. You lane is either ending or you're about to miss your exit. What do you do?

It's not that the person id trying to be a butt head, they are just checking out my car!!!!

This happens to me at least once a day. Friday it happened to me 3 times! Maybe it's because around here there are many multiple lane roads. I now find myself getting into the lane I will eventually need to be in and staying there. I don't care if the lane is going way too slow or not I refuse to get out. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back over. I have missed my exit for work in the morning because of this. And when I leave work there is a lot of construction going on and I have about 1/4 mile to get over 2 lanes to my exit (which is hard to do no matter what you're driving) but trying to weave between on lookers makes it so much more difficult. And I have on a number of occasions rolled down the window to bring it to the persons attention that I've had my turn signal on for 1/2 a mile and NEED to get over.

Does anyone else have this problem? I like that they like my car. I don't mind when people stair as I drive by or come up to me to ask questions. But when I'm /we're trying to drive!?!?!?!?!?

Cross your fingers, turn your signal on, and ease on over.

It's all part of smart ownership, I've actually had people pass on the drivers side, take pictures, pull in front of me and slow down so I have to pass them, they take more pictures, and then they re-pass(?) me, and go on their way!

WhiteNBlack08 Yup. That exact same thing has happened to me as well. I was laughing at that one.

baily K. I've seriously been thinking about doing just that. I was thinking od an air horn. How much did your horn upgrade cost (if I may) and was it difficult to install?

That was one of the reason I had the Dealer install the smart "Fanfare Horn".

I actually had a woman merge from the onramp halfway into my lane then stop on the freeway and waive me past. Needless to say there were a lot of other horns that did the job. I didn't even need to use mine.

it's such a leettle teeny car... I find its really easy to slip right in front of anybody. Remember - no back half, so you only need half as much space as in a "normal" car.

vroooom!

Maybe a sign you could hold up that says "I need to get over!"

I was on the phone in my car this evening (oops!) and a well meaning guy pulled up next to me at a light, rolled his window down. I pointed to the cell phone, didn't matter, he had questions to ask...

I haven't really had that happen to me. Here in Texas, where everything is bigger, I think they are so surprised to see a small car that they lift their foot off their Ford 150 accelerator and drop their jaws.
