Think Boston...

Not the band!

I learned through a lot of business travel to Bean Town that the most efficient merge strategy is to avoid eye contact with any other driver. Yes, move over like you own the road. The one who makes eye contact loses every time. As near as I could tell they take pride in this. Of course, it is much easier to accomplish in the silverado than it is in my new cueball or the Miata.

OTOH, why are people taking pictures of me with their cell phones? That has me weirded out!

Best and happy motoring,
26.2

Google "Tutorial, replacing the factory horn"
I replaced mine with the Griot garage Italian horn. Was not that difficult but a little frustrating getting the old one off.... They say it takes 30 minutes... it took me and my friend an hour but most of that was trying to get the old horn mount off and fitting the new one on.... use the "go at it from the driver's wheel well approach. It seemed to be easier than taking the panels loose...

I agree with Deaconpark, go through the driver side wheel well. I put in a Wolo air horn that's supposed to sound like an 18 wheeler.

The toughest part of the job was squeezing my hands into the tiny places and getting the new horn mounted where the old one was. Even trying several different approaches and finally settling on the wheel well, it took me a little over an hour.

There are several threads on this forum about replacing the factory horn. Take a look at all the different methods, but the easiest and least complicated seems to be through the wheel well. Just my $0.02.

Yuckmoon--

I bought a pair of Hella Supertone Horns 118db around $60.00 and had them mounted on either side of the radiator. As far as how difficult, the front has to be pulled and pulling out my wallet and giving the body shop $100.00.

A Porsche cut me off on the 101; he made the mistake of having his drives side window down. I just drove up next to him and smiled, oh I did lay on the horn and he did jump, oops sorry......

I had something similar happen the other day. I think it was half the fact that the guy was staring at my car, and half that he was on the phone. I had someone on my tail, and I was running out of lane, so I punched it to the floor.

Needless to say, I am surprised at how quickly it can get out of its own way if needed... it won't mash you back in the seat like my VUE will, but it will definitely surprise people.
