HELP~! Speakers popping noise . . .

I ran some errands today and left the car parked in the sun all afternoon - it was 94 here. I went out to move it into the garage before dark and heard some strange noises. Both door speakers were making a popping and crackling noise.
The key was out and the radio was OFF. I turned the key and radio ON and the noise stopped. As soon as I turned them off - the noise came back on? I started it up and drove around for a few minutes with the air on to cool the interior.
Returned home and parked. No more noise~!
Any one else experienced something similiar? I'm really freaked following the fire that jimvw57 experienced recently and am wondering if something in or around the electrical panel is contacting the speaker leads or if something in the radio is acting up due to the heat? I was thinking of pulling the radio, but since it went away I'm not sure it would solve anything. Any ideas or suggestions? THANKS!

Have you gotten your 2.0 update yet? The only thing that crosses my mind is the possibility of odd behavior with low voltage. Driving the car around for a bit would cure a low voltage situation, for sure. The update - for many cars - results in a beefier battery since there were many people with batteries discharging a little too deep.

Your situation does sound bizarre.

Maybe you're getting Pops because of Fathers' day.

John H. - I did get the 2.0 update on the 11th. Haven't had any problems with that. Voltage on the ScanGauge reading about 12.6 or so until starting then it jumps to 13.8 or so.
I put the key in the ignition after letting the car set and warm back up (it's still 91) and as soon as I did it started popping on the speakers again. . . even with the radio still off.
Not wanting to have a smart ala flambe in the morning I opted to pull the radio. . . ten minute job. Afterwards, no popping or any other strange noises. Started it several times and shut it down. Seems to be gone. I'm leaving it outside tonight just in case and will check it in another hour or so . . . strange happenings, indeed.

Spooky!

I've noticed that with my latest cell phone anytime it gets near speakers I get that popping. Sad as I was next to the speaker at an auction the other day and it made that start buzzing/popping. Does it on my computer speakers too.

popping noise

I have the same popping noise in my car when it is off. Both door speakers are making a pretty continuous popping sound even though the car and the radio are off. This happened one other time a few months ago but not again until today. Has anyone figured out what it is and what to do? I am still under warrantly!
