Hey, let's play Hell.

I took a friend out to lunch today and on the way back the AC started blowing super super heated air. It's like 95ºf+ here today and it was actually cooler to roll down the windows. I thought it was just a temporary issue so I rolled the windows back up and got on the highway. I really started to freak as I was navigating the a large armada of SUVs on I-10. I had to pay attention to the driving task but I was starting to swoon from the heat so I started to do the old NASA EPDP on the ac system with every extra clock cycle I could spare. Finally I noticed that my well-meaning friend had, in an effort to get the ac to go go go, pushed the right lever all the way up to the 90º heater mark.

At about the same time I noticed it, I also noted my friend was starting to look all wet and heat-strokie. He said "I think your AC is broken". I took time out of lane changes to look at him and say "OK well, what do you say we try it MY way istead?" and pulled down the control to the lower mark. The effect was GREAT. It was almost INSTANTANIOUSLY comfortable.

Try this sometime It's kind of frightning how quick it goes from sauna to spring breeze.

Well, that answers the question, "What should I do for fun on a Saturday night?"

Yeah. My dad told me there were these really thick books of "Problem Diagnostic Proceedures" and some only slightly less thick "Emergency" versions. He would always say NASA EPDP meaning what you do between panicing and dying.

In reality, I think the pilots/astronauts usually solved problems faster than the "coats" using the PDPs could.

Are you still friends, or at the very least, do you strap down your friend's hands when he gets in your car?

Snake - did it myself the other day!! Played golf in the morning and had the heat up for the chill, forgot when I got in the car 5 hours later and 84 deg, our one of our two days of summer this year. Punched on the AC and afterr a mile, thought "Wow, those guys complaining about their AC's are right!" Felt real foolish when I found the temp slider shoved all the way up!!! Thanks for the laugh!!!!
