Highway trip review

Went on trip from El Paso to Fort sill, Oklahoma and back last weekend in the little car. Handled very well and found myself exceding the 80 MPH speed limit a couple of times. Averaged around 40 MPG due to the speed. Lower back kind of sore after about 8 hours but that could just me getting old. VERY pleased.

They are great all around cars; lots of folks did over 500 miles this past weekend (some of us closer to 1K) and the smart is just great fun on the road.

If your seat has a heater, it really makes a difference on the low back to use occassionally.

As for being on the road, our smarts are awesome for any road trip I have been on so far.

I did 1k miles before my 2 nights in Vegas and I expect another 2.5k in the next few days heading out of Sin City. The 1k so far was fine - only one stop did I come out of the car feeling creaky. Later stops were fine. I haven't turned the heat on under the leather, but the seats are quite comfortable.

Dragon rally this past weekend..
I did 1300 + miles in just over 2 days...

Not uncomfortable at all..
I was sure to get out and stretch every 100 miles or so..
but the smart was very comfortable to drive long distance.

Sure.. thinks like cruise control and adjustable steering wheel would have
made it even better.. but I'm not used to such luxury in my cars anyway.

I just got back from Tail of the Dragon this afternoon. Put in roughly 1,300 miles since Friday. 300 miles a day is no problem ... but, if I were on a sightseeing trip I'd rather limit that to 200 just to permit more seeing time.

I got back from slaying the dragon to Ohio on Sunday with no problems at all. Car was happy to cruise at 75 mph, and the new center armrest I purchased at the dragon event really helped with the comfort level.

Last tank after the hills of I-75 in Kentucky was 47 mpg.

Glad to hear you got back OK; enjoyed the drive down with you (nice being in the company of two Brabus cars!) Great gas mileage - we didn't do anything close to that on the trip back.

Add me to the 1,000 mile club from this past weekend. Car performed flawlessly on interstate. Got a little bit of buffering behind 18 wheelers but IMO it was on par with most other cars I've owned. GPS read that my fastest speed I traveled was 90.5mph - hard to say that there were witnesses to confirm that though.

Add a cruise and armrest and the car is transformed into a comfortable cruiser. I agree about the seat heaters. It is one thing I wish I would of ordered.
