While you're at it, don't forget to remove the seat belts and undo the relays for the airbags. .....then tell your passengers everything you've done to thwart the safety devices.
Nah, why tell 'em? What's life without a few surprises?
Yeah, that pulsing from the abs bothers me, too. I think I'll pull that fuse as well. And what's with that roll bar in my cabrio; makes me feel like I'm in NASCAR. I think I'll just sawzall that sucker off.
If your driving hard enough to set off the abs, you need to seriously slow down, I've had my smart for 3 months, and have yet to set off the abs.
Go ahead and cut out the roll bar, just don't come crying back here about how lousy your car handles, and all the squeaks and rattles. That bar is an integral part of the structure of the body, you eliminate that, and you might as well be driving a wet noodle.

Looked to me like smartenuf was being sarcastic. You must have read it some other way...
hmmm, pull a fuse just to disable hill assist, and thereby disabling abs, traction control - nothing like taking a step backwards in safety. Might as well forget to buckle your seat belt too!
To clarify I do not drive around like this.
But seriously abs/traction control vs seat belt. There really isn't a comparison, and they really aren't used if your a competent driver in good driving conditions.
Love the wet noodle remark... I can just see the body twisting as he takes turn in that. IMHO I am fairly sure he was just kidding.... But then I have known ppl that do stupid things like drop a huge NOS tank in an S-10 (stock) and cranked the injection all the way up. he went from 0-100 in about 5 seconds, and then the front lifted and he flipped over. nearly killed him. Dunn remember what the speed was, but it was fast.

Lots of variables in there and the middle of a rain storm is not the time for trying to get that fuse back in. If you can predict when the dump truck is going to run the red light in front of you, ABS probably won't be needed; my ESP isn't that good so I'll stick with having ABS engaged. If ABS and ESC are coming on during street driving, my guess is the driver needs to dial it back a little.
PS - for the pilots out there, would you disengage the anti-skid on your aircraft and depend on your "skills" to keep it on the runway?

I blame the government and T-Boone Pickens for tax cuts that made schools drop Sarcasm 101 from the curriculum. Oy!

Good grief Charlie Brown!
I am going out to the garage now to disconnect the brake lights. I find the reflection to be really annoying...I think I am also going to get rid of the low air pressure sensors too and the low oil pressure warning light...
I like the whole "I have never engaged the ABS so why would I need it" line of reasoning. I have had cars with airbags now for a good many years and have never had an airbag deploy. I suppose whilst I am in the garage I might as well remove the airbags...
In fact, I have never needed a heart defibrillator before, either. I think I am going to have them removed from the building that I work in...

yeah, but its the other driver you have to watch out for!
