Exactly the same conclusion one can reach after reading the 157 posts in

and other locations in the Forum.
That's why my general answer was addressed to the less maths inclined drivers who needs to know if it's safer to turn back, or attempt to go ahead to the next station (and not the ScanGauge settings).

That may explain why the dash gauge is not as accurate and linear as one could or should expect.
