How big is YOUR booty?

Many of us have put our smarts to work as beasts of burden, and finding new and ingenious ways to turn a microcar into a veritable moving van.

I went to the "truthaboutsmart.co.uk" website, and was stunned to see a laundry dryer loaded sidewways into the back of a smart. (Don't try this at home!)

It made me think... how BIG is that booty, REALLY? I've had $250 of Costco items in there... moving the seats forward giveS a fairly cavernous space, and still room for two people in comfort.

Who holds the record for smart booty hauling?

I do not hav emine yet - but - I had to check out the booty locker first to see it will hold all my 'normal' stuff. The box of scout stuff fits - that's ok.
My chair, littlist ice chest, 'tourney' chest, first aid bag, and embroidery bag all fit in the back. Looked very funny stuffing all this into a dealer car. I still need to find a roll-up table and I'll be set.

But then there is the camping load - hmmmmm... I think a trailer will come in handy there.

I was at my smart center one day when a musician was testing a new Cabrio smart to see if his bass would fit in with the front seat folded flat... he actually brought in the instrument and it cleared by 1/8".

I had 28 18" pizzas in the back and passenger side. Still had room leftover

and Steve...you beat me to it.. when I was picking up my smart in January, there was a woman there who was looking at one and had her Cello with her. She also put the front seat down and put it in to make sure it fit. How odd that 2 people on different parts of the country would have their large musical instruments with them and would be trying out the storage room.

I'm worried about this because I go to Sams Club about 2-3 weekly and have used my Toyota Matrix as a utility truck, I'm worried I may try to cram too much into my Smart when I finally take delivery of it.. Luckily I will be keeping my Matrix so If I really need a work horse the reliable Toyota will be available.

I don't play the cello but I do play the violin/viola and was thinking about buying a cello to play around. I had the exact same thoughts to see if the cello would fit.

too funny.....i just replied to a woman on here this weekend that asked if her cello would fit. i bet her 'yes', with the passenger seat folded flat.

could there be a THIRD cellist looking at a smart?

I used to play pit percussion in a senior drum & bugle corps. My cohort would take our corps' concert marimba (about 6 feet long), break it down, roll up the keys in towels, and put the whole thing in the back of her RAV4, which also toted her husband, husband's baritone (a largish kind of horn) and two kids.

I always marvelled at this performance. It was like a magic trick.

As I shifted truckloads of percussion equipment around, though, I often wondered what brainstorm made me give up the piccolo.
