How to find out about transmission mod?
Looking at an '08 Cabrio on non-dealer used car lot. Have heard about electronic mod to trans that improved shifting. How can I find out if this one has it?

call a smart dealer and give them the VIN. they will be able to look it up and see if it received it already.

The VIN is obviously the definitive way to know, the quick check is to open the drivers door and look for the recycle sticker by the VIN sticker. '08s didn't have these from the factory, it was part of the 2.0 update.

If you can use the paddle shifters without moving the sifter out of D then it has been updated. And it doesn't don't worry, its free from any smart center.
