How hard will you beat your new smart?

Our anticipated Smart useage. What is yours?

15% City.
20% Hyw.
65% Freeway.

Mileage est. for our new smart 20k first year.

Notes: We now run >30k a year on a Subaru. If the Smart works out we will run it into the ground, then buy another. We have had 7 Subarus.

I won't beat it at all! I will hug it when it's good and give it a "time out" when it isn't.

Miles per year? Somewhere between 3K and 15K. Mostly all suburban driving on secondary roads.

Mainly for going and returning from commuter rail station - 2.5 miles each way LOL

My Pure should out last me.

The only open question is how much fun it will be to take on the open road for longer trips?

80% semi-rural
10% long distance
10% city

Last year I put 3,000 miles on the Subaru because I rode the scooters most of the time. I figure the smart as just an enclosed scooter with worse gas mileage, so it will probably have similar 3,000 miles per year. Still deciding whether to keep the WRX. It is so damn fun that I'd hate to part with it.

I'd like to see a poll on expected annual mileage. I'll drive mine 20K+ each year, mostly freeways. The reviews indicate that the ride is surprisingly good at freeway speeds.

I used to take my 1957 Isetta on the freeway regularly, and it was very comfortable. The smart, being a big car by comparison, should do very well.

Prolly about 10k a year for me. I don't drive as hard as I used to either. I no longer need to be in the front of the pack. LOL Insurance is cheaper that way.

Fun fun fun. I drove a 450 from the Bay Area to NYC last year for ZAP. Took a week doing it. Biggest problem is answering all the questions at every stop. This car attracts ATTENTION!

Here's the same car in SFO and NYC a week and 4000 miles later (we went the long way).

I put 3,000 miles on my Commander this year. I will most likely put 3,000 to 5,000 per year on the smart.

I'm probably going to put about 18K a year, 75% highway on mine.

I put a ton of miles on my car commuting back and forth between Silver Spring MD and Arlington VA, as most of my friends are down there, and I zip down 2 or 3 times a week (60 mile round trip).

I'd probably put between 15 - 20k on the SMART and another 5 - 7K on the truck for road trips. As for driving habits, I'd say 70% city and 25% hwy.
