how long the clutch last?

I read some threads here, I found the tranny on the Smart is working with the semi-auto clutch.
I am wondering about this type of clutch, how long it will last? 60k**100k miles??
any one have any idea how much will cost us to replace it?

Here's a good link to start you off. The Softip transmission system doesn't have a clutch.

Well, I have just over 2200 miles on mine in 2 months. The clutch is still working here. So my estimate is... at least 2200 miles Russ

once again their article is incorrect. it does have a clutch , IT DOESN'T HAVE A CLUTCH PEDAL. The Getrag transmission is a sequentially shifted manual transmission, whose clutch and shift mechanisms are operated by electronically controlled servo motors, either manually by paddles on the steering wheel or the coventional gear shift lever, or automatically at preprogramed shift points by input from several engine and speed sensors.

clutch pedal

No pedal but a single plate dry clutch that gets operated by computer control.
On this forum there has been an instance where the actuator (the auto pedal) has failed prematurely. It is not unreasonable to expect the clutch disk to last for the life of the car. Have had no need to price out the replacement of one perhaps one of the dealers here will step up and give us a quote.

Not only that, he's reviewing the 450 version, not the new 451.

Manual or automated...The clutch is still activated the same. That is the one benefit? of having the computer control the pressing and releasing if the pressure plate. One of the reasons for clutch failure is the driver of a manual transmission and how their foot controls the clutch.
