Having driven standards my entire life, I seriously enjoyed my first automatic tranny in my PT Cruiser. Since I spend a lot of time in the infamous Houston traffic, NOT having to shift gears on a constant basis provided much relief for my left leg.
When I learned that smarts have an automated manual, I thought "best of both worlds !!"
I tried it a few times, but it's not like you're really shifting gears. It's more like taking a regular automatic tranny, putting it in 3, then sliding it to 2, then ending up in D.
So yep, my smart stays in D probably 99.9% of the time.
