How many windshields have you had replaced????

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with getting chips in their windshields in the SmartForTwo. I have had three windshields replaced in the last 6 months and don't know whether it is a design flaw or I am just unlucky enough to get stones flying up into my windshield If anyone has a suggestion about how to prevent stones from flying up and hitting the windshield, I would welcome the info:-) But I love my little yellow "Bumble Bee." Wouldn't drive anything else, even if I have to keep replacing windshields!!!!

You need to modify your driving habits.

I tend to agree with Okie. I try to avoid driving behind trucks. Luckily there aren't many debris-carrying lorries in my area, and equally luckily, the roads are well tended.

But last winter, I scratched my windshield trying to clear it of snow, so I'm actually hoping it will get shattered soon so that I can have it replaced. So far, no luck. I'm stuck on my first windshield.

Why make assumptions about the OPs driving habits?

I had a cracked windshield replaced at 1 year old. The 2nd windshield is full of chips after 9 months.

And I don't follow too closely.

I don't make it a habit of following trucks and like most people, stay away from them at all costs. All three of the chips have come from stones coming off the road and I don't think there is a way to prevent that. If there is, clue me in:-) Driving habits have nothing to do with chipped windshields for the most part. But that is beside the point anyway. I'm looking for a solution and was just wondering if anyone had one to offer. Maybe some engineer out there has a theory:-)

I don't follow closely and my 3000 mile windshield looks like hell. Glad you brought it up,I was wondering if it was just me.

It may be your location. Might be bad luck too.

One roof replaced so far....another to be replaced soon. (2 different cars) Knock on wood, windshields A-OK.
