This is very important because many glass cleaners use ammonia or alcohol. The smart's clear top appears to be very ruggedly coated, but don't take a chance, check your glass cleaner's contents.

My favorite is Simply Natural Glass Shine.

I am very interested in finding non-toxic cleaning products. However, I didn't see a list of ingredients for the Simply Natural line of products. Does it say on the bottle what is inside? Currently in my house, I only use vinegar, baking soda and Dr Bronner's peppermint soap. I did buy a spray cleaner called Biokleen made out of grapefruit seed and orange peel which I was going to use on the smart car's interior. Not sure what to use on the exterior yet. Some here have posted about Simple Green, so I might try that. Have no idea what to do about wax or polishes...still investigating and seeking green ideas for that part of the process.

I think there are so many cars out there that AREN'T taken care of, washing your car with ANYTHING will make it look brand new, even if it's twenty years old! But for my smartie, I do the following:

For cleaning / polishing the windows, I use the tried and true method of Windex and newspaper. The newsprint is a polisher, believe it or not and works very well!

Then a little RainX on the windshield and it's good.

For the body, regular Wallyworld car shampoo or detergent, then tried and true Turtlewax. A good shiny, new look for not a lot of $$!

No ingredients listed for Simply Natural Glass Shine. Claims 100% plant based, non-toxic, no alcohol, and biodegradable.

I'll let you try it first, Forest! If your smartie doesn't melt, I might give it a whirl!
