HP gain from cold air intake.

I was thinking this might be a small modification I could do on the car. I wondered if anyone else had one and how hard it was to put in the car. I also am curious how much this will increase the performance of the smart.

I have the intake from Smart Madness (made by Smart Car Performance) and love it. Installation was a bit tricky because I didn't have the right socket wrench so it was a little tricky. There are just a couple bolts you need to take out and then you take the old intake box out and the new one slides right it. Performance wise, it made a big difference. No regrets buying it.

It looks a lot cheaper than going full turbo. They have them for 350 at smart madness. I would like to know how loud it is from your experience.

It added a little more growl in the exhaust. Nothing too noticable but it made it sound a little more aggressive .

Same here. My "butdyno" says like 5-7hp gain in HP. :-)
I have "Genius" Intake on my "Surfmobile". It is hard to describe the sound. It is added a nice tone but not a noise if that makes any sense. Here is my original review and installation tips.

The Smart Madness version uses the air from the side scoop. It's design avoids any water going into the intake. Easy installation and offered in high polish, yellow, blue, and red.
