Hunker?

Does your fortwo "hunker".

Mine does. After I drive for anything over five or ten minutes without stopping and then, come to a complete stop and wait for a full second my smart will "hunker down" a little.

For me, it is just on the edge of perceptibility. It really feels like some sort of automated adjustment to the shocks or something. The front goes down in relation to the back of the car but I can't tell if the front is actually doing the hunkering or the back is popping up just a little.

Hmmm, haven't noticed that yet but I'll be paying attention this morning. My Land Rover does, but it has an air suspension that's adjustable.

The squat or hunker should go away completely. Give the clutch/brake some thought at intersections and such it needs to learn what you want to do. Playing with mine for a while now a light touch will let it coast no touch gives you engine braking coming down a long hill, think of your feet as a human input device telling the clutch what to do (top of the travel I think). Took about a week as I remember for it to go away and it would brifly return when my wife had the car for a while...having fun? Gone now

mine does it too. If I'm at a long light, after 10 or 15 seconds the car seems to settle down.

Garage
Ours does it as well; not sure what it is, almost like it's locked the brakes or something but don't know why the nose seems to dip a little.

When a dog lowers its front end, it means it wants to play. I'm sure it's the same thing.

I KNOW right?

My corgi does that and I thought it might be the same thing. The corgi does not have ESC or ABS but i think the suspension is similar.)

I noticed that and to me it feels like the transmision going into neutral, or non-creep mode perhaps.

I think the creep function is somehow involved. I have a 450 as well which does not do any of this. In the 451, when I slow down for a stop light without braking, the creep function kicks in with a thunk, then I do have to brake to stop, rather than just coasting in. Also I have a very steep downhill to the garage entrance and I turn him around to back into the garage(very tight turns). Smartie just seems to get all rev'ed up from the descent so when I make the turn around, he lurches forward in 1st and backwards in reverse. I just let him roll backwards into the garage in N, rather than fighting with reverse. Hope he calms down soon. (200 miles on odo)

If there were one mod I would do, it would be to cut the creep function. I'm hoping eventually someone comes up with a way to disable it. Seems useless to me. IMHO
