I have had my Smart car for 6 weeks now. I am getting 34 city and 46 highway. I took the car to Ohio and back and it ran great and was very comforatable on the open road.
I still have my '02 Dodge Ram quad cab and kept if for hauling stuff when needed and if I have to haul a bunch of people. It was paid off so why get rid of it.
Now, the Dodge gets 12 MPG and for a driving average of 12,000 miles a year I would need 1,000 gallons of gas or $4,000 at 4.00 a gallon.
My Smart Car gets at least 34 in the city and 46 on the highway and for the same 12,000 miles I would need 352.94 gallons of gas or $1411.76 at 4.00 a gallon. (and that is figured at 34 MPG so that number would be even less!)
The difference is $2588.24 per year or 215.69 a month.
That my friends will make the payment! (if you have one)
As a bonus, the car is a blast to drive and you know that we get asked a lot about our bikes, well, I get bombbarded with people wanting to know more about the Smart Car. If you do not like to talk with people, do not buy this car!
