I really should buy a Yaris instead of a Smart...

According to Edmunds.com, the Yaris would cost $14,870 if equipped like the smart fortwo passion which was $14,190. But the smart has electronic stability control, which the Yaris lacks.

Go to the smartusa.com website. Look at the headline where the name of the site is.

It says "Open your mind to the car that challenges the status quo"

The Yaris is part of that status quo.

The smart is not.

Ultimately its your choice and your car, so you should pick whatever is best for your needs.

However almost everyone on this site has chosen to go away from that status quo, so to expect us to agree with you in some way is silly. Some of us might get riled up, but it's nothing that a ride in the little smart won't cure...

How many different makes and models of automobile available in the US. You don't have to tell any one of us what you choose. It is a free country, get whatever you want and enjoy it. We just happen to be a happy Smart bunch.

Bingo....a good comparison! (NO ONE can compare to the numbers accord and camry put up!) MINI sold 4,289 cars in March (up from 3600 last march) in comparison to smart's 1,734 (a number that should level off to ~2000). I know when I bought my MINI in '04, two years after its re-release, MINI's still weren't a very common sight around town, and I suspect smart will be the same.

Here's some other March sales numbers for the "competition":

Chevy Aveo - 3,693
Honda Fit - 6,835
and....

Toyota Yaris - 12,953 !!
