Configuring on Oct 8th, 2007, as an 1174.....got my car on February 8th, 2008.....120 days to the day!
Seems as though the process is slowing.....

Glad I reserved when I did. I wish I could capture that kind of timing with the stock market!

I'm in the 90 day window......but don't expect my 2009 until at least November.

I can't remember if "reserving" is the same time as "configuring" ( no wonder after 15 months of waiting) but I reserved mine on June11, 2007 and I just checked my DDE, and they moved it back 2 more months from the original DDE. My 90 day window is now 8/9/08 - 11/7/08. This is so messed up. I'll be surprised if I even get it then. I have not heard a word from Smart center las vegas. I'm so glad I got an orpahan.

I think this is where Smart USA is failing... I am an instant gratification kind of person. I wanted a smart, still do actually, but I am not going to wait that long for a car. And I am not going to play the eBay game, I hate those people already. Trying to sell a sub 15k car for 20k upwards. I'll just have to wait until they have a surplus at the dealerships. Whenever that happens...

Black on Black, red interior passion is my smart of choice now... But it's always subject to change... until the dealerships get more in than they can sell I won't be buying.

I guess I don't understand. If you want a smart, either way, your still going to be waiting whether you reserve one or not.

I reserved 6-27-07, yes 2007. I waiting through the whole process and got my car about 3 weeks ago. I waited close to 14 months. I assume you will be taking delivery from the Bloomington, MN Smart store.

Right now, you have two choices:

1. Go online and place a refundable reservation and get a car somewhere between 3 months (New York City area) and 2 years (middle of the country), but get exactly what you want at a reasonable price.
2. Go to a dealer and buy an orphan (someone else reserved and configured a car that they didn't take) with whatever the dealer wanted to add on to it at whatever price they choose to charge, but you get it now.
