....NVINCBL.... <grin> I completely agree with your observation. A side benefit of driving a Smart in traffic is having more buffer space. The other day a bozo changed lanes into me, as bozos are wont to do, but since I had a lot more space cushion to absorb his move I didn't have to do a sheer panic move so the traffic flow was hardly affected. I didn't even swear at him, just grinned and the bozo looked chagrined - I think he had a momentary guilt feeling like he'd just run over a baby bunny with a lawnmower or clubbed a baby seal. Another side benefit of this car - ppl see it as so friendly like a Disney character.

perhaps another concern we smart drivers might keep in mind (and giving the other non smart drivers the benefit of doubt), like with motorcycles (sv650 here), there are a number of individuals who find it difficult to determine accurate depth/distance perception.

simply, a small(er) vehicle looks further away. (least to some?)

defensively, forewarned is forearmed (gosh that’s an old saying) and threads like this and this whole forum is/has been a great heads up, and with hopes, continues to be so.

Was out shopping yesterday afternoon with my wife, doing at LEAST 4-5 OVER the speed limit, with some joker in the car behind me (a pizza delivery guy) riding my butt! I just kept driving at the same speed I was at, since traffic ahead was starting to bunch up anyway with people getting off work and heading home. I guess this guy just couldn't stand it anymore, so he pulls over to the right lane to pass, and I goosed the throttle just a litte! At the exact same time, traffic in HIS lane came to a sudden stop.......AND SO DID HE!!! I can almost GUARANTEE that he BOUGHT some of the pizzas that he was trying to deliver, because he probably had them ALL OVER HIS CAR!!! Every once in awhile.........you get poetic justice! BTW, I didn't STOMP down on the pedal or anything........just a very subtle pressure! I ALSO will be getting one of the Italian Horns soon to install on my car, and I've ALREADY got the 3rd. brakelight PULSER on it's way!!!

You do know that driving on the highway is a race! The first person to their destination wins the grand prize. Nascar driving is the style everyone should drive. That one second advantage could mean EVERYTHING! Little cars will never win so they shouldn't be allowed to race along side the big boys.

Well at least this is the perception I get from other drivers when I drive... In fact, I know a guy at work that I swear he thinks he is racing in Nascar every time he drives. It is very scary riding with him. He always has to beat everyone to the finish line.
