I want a 2010!

I know it's is a guessing game at this point, but I'm trying to determine the best time to reserve for one of the first 2010's.

I've just about decided to let my reserved smart go to the orphanage. It's Yellow, which I love; and a cabrio, which I need But I'm not happy with getting an 08 so late in the year (no 90-day email yet and my dde says Oct 8, 2008 - Jan 11, 2009). Plus the economy sucks - news flash, I know AND I really love my tomato soup orphan coupe.

But I really do want a cab at some point and I like the idea of the 2010 MHD.

Sooo..... anybody who has inside info or some good advice on the best time to pony up my $99, let me know!

Thanks!!

Suze

FWIW, I reserved back in March and have a DDE of Sep 09 - Nov 09. My guess is if you reserve now you'll get a 2010 model.

No inside information here. But, I reserved on July 12, 2008. The DDE gave me a window for the first time today ...October 2009 to December 2009. The window wanders around though, where it stops nobody knows. I want a 2010 too. I hope I didn't jump the gun.

I would reserve one as soon as possible. We don't know just how fast it will sell once it's released.

i'm thinking about a 2010 also. i'm planning on placing another reservation in January. my current order looks like it will end up being about 11-12 months from reservation to delivery, so if the wait for the 2010's is somewhere between 12-20 months, by reserving in January i'm ensured to get a 2010. if worse case scenario happens and the wait is longer than 20 months, i'll end up with a 2011. big woop!

i too want a MHD or even better, an EV and maybe this one will be a Cabriolet.....

Suze,

It all depends on where you live (of course you know that!). Check around with the folks in your area and it will give you a good idea of the wait time; then go from there. Like MENSA42 said, our wait around here (Indiana) is about 11 - 12 months. I'm looking at about 11 myself. I reserved on January 17, 2008 and expect delivery some time in November for my 09 (one of the "first" out of the chute!)

Remember, that your DEE may actually be less that 12 months is some areas and you may not get what you want. It is a roll of the dice.

Suze not sure if this will help you but I reserved Feb.18, 2008 and Configured the car a couple of weeks ago in Sept. 2008. My DDE has changed a couple of times and is now at Dec 08 - Feb 09. My DDE started out as Apr 09 - July 09.

My smart will come from the same dealer as yours.

i'm thinking i will get a 2010. we have a wait of 18 months in the kc area. ordered mine july 24, 08 i would like a CDI do not know what the 2010 year will bring. there is another post going at this time were the DDE is getting shorter about 12 months out. so who knows. i will love my smart when i get it regardless of what it is. i have ordered it the way i want and i will wait. if there is a CDI in 2010 i will buy one as a coupe, and keep the cab also.
