Checked CNG price today in Indianapolis, $1.70 per GGE.
Don't know why no car companies make dual fuel cars exept for commercial vehicles or the Civic GX (great car but dedicated CNG).
Good in many levels, your pocket, enviroment, reduces dependency on foreign oil, plenty of natural gas in North America.
Clean fuel 8 to 10 dollars a barrel?
For all his faults as a military strategist, Adolf Hitler must be credited with having as good an understanding of the economic underpinnings of large-scale warfare as anyone in the Nazi high command. Upon his accession to power in 1933, he immediately began a search for methods to increase oil exploration and production.
Between 1933 and 1939, German domestic crude oil production nearly tripled to 4.5 million barrels per year. As was true of most countries in western Europe, Germany was rich in coal, but poor in petroleum. Under Hitler's orders, German engineers began working to produce clean synthetic fuels, mostly from coal and lignite, at an unprecedented pace. By 1941, synthetic fuel production had reached a level of 31 million barrels per year.
A month has gone by since this post, and sure as anything, gas is WAY over $4.00 here in SoCal, in fact I paid $4.31 for premium today. The news says $5.00 by mid July, but if you chart the increases on a graph, you'll see it much sooner. Glad I'm driving a Smart. Have friends with SUV's and PU's both gas and diesel and its changing their life style...
don't feel alone. even here in Central Indiana, regular unleaded was over $4/gal this weekend, but then again there was some kind of annual event on the westside in Speedway that local experts blame on the faster rise in price for this weekend.
we'll see if it goes back down to $3.98 tomorrow. doubtful.......
Looking back at all the messages and doing a bit more research on this subject, I see that the $4 per gallon is only the beginning. It's been estimated that it could hit $300 a barrel in 5 years. that would translate to around $9 to $10 per gallon.

There is also a contrary theory that has the cost of crude oil dropping down significantly in several years. The basic idea is that demand drops way down as alternatives take hold while supply of oil continues to rise (see Bottomless Well by Huber). Of course supply can also be constrained along the supply chain as crude makes its way to gasoline even if known crude reserves continues to grow. But I guess the more horrific scenario is newsworthy ;)
When has anything that has increased in price this much and this quickly, every gone down substantially. And if the gov gets involved, we'll never see the end of it...
IF??? I just filled up here in Norfolk, VA and it was $4.02 a gallon (93 octane)...
I wish I had my smart already... Filling up my gas hog is starting to require a second job!
