back in October of 2007, is DDE wrong when it says that my Smart should come in around 2009?!

Please tell me theres a typo, or the DDE is effed up.

At this point it is very difficult to tell what the actual delivery date might be.
At the very least you should assume a year to 14 months from reservation which in fact would put you late in 2008 at best.

See if your deal has a "short list" for orphan cars. I ordered mine Feb 17, 2008, and put myself on the sort list. I just got one 4-7-08, it wasn't the exact one that I wanted, but that was fine with me.

I reserved mine early April, 2007 and took delivery on Monday (April 7, 2008). With the increase of reservations per day as time went on, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get your car until early 2009. Our smart center Bloomington here in 'da Cities is now saying new reservations will be delivered in about 22 months. *ouch!*

If I were you, I'd just try to focus on home projects or other things to get your mind away from it for a while... then all of a sudden, you'll get the email asking you to configure your car and you can start to get excited again!

Check your DDE frequently! I have checked mine daily for the past week and have nearly daily adjustments.

Today's adjustment dropped the delivery date from as far out as 7/26/08 to 6/1/08. Now admittedly that doesn't answer your question about 2009, but I resrved Apr 2007.

Based upon surfing various 451 sites, demand seems to be growing, not declining, so I would expect a year wait if production has been ramped up.

Regardless, GOOD LUCK! Everyone that has theirs seems convinced the car is worth waiting for unless you absolutely need a car RIGHT now.

There is so much conflicting info on the delivery posts on this forum. People with numbers in the 1400's getting their cars before 1140's. I registered September 30 2007, that's 7 months after registration began, and I have heard nothing, and the DDE has me pegged for Sept 2009 to November 2009. That's two years. If you look at the fine print it says this info may change, or not be accurate. Personally I don't think they have a delivery system. Just a blindfolded monkey sitting in El Segundo throwing darts at a dartboard.
Some posts say we should be getting 48k cars this year, whereas most of the year I have heard 24k. Smart corporate says they are not getting any more cars this year. 8 months - no cars? That's why I have been pushed back so far. That's not a delivery system - it's a joke. I am in Los Angeles BTW.Seems like we should get more.

For a Lamborghini maybe. Mine is the longest wait I have seen. Two years for what is essentialy a cheap car.
